Denise Julia signs with US record label Empire: 'This is only the beginning'
Denise Julia has signed with Empire, a record label based in the United States.
The Filipina R&B singer shared the news on Instagram, along with photos from her contract-signing ceremony.
Denise reflected on her journey as an artist, saying that years of "writing songs in my bedroom" and "recording until sunrise" led to the milestone.
"Coming from Tondo, Philippines, I never imagined the little girl making music out of instinct and pure love would one day find herself here," she wrote.
"No shortcuts, no easy path, no nepotism (lol)," she added. "Just years of choosing to create through every high and low."
The "NVMD" hitmaker also said that becoming "one of the first and few homegrown Filipina artists signed to a major US label" proves that "Filipino artistry deserves space on the global stage exactly as we are."
"When you dedicate your life to the work, eventually the music speaks louder than the noise around it," she said. "This is only the beginning."
Aside from "NVMD," Denise is known for her hits "B.A.D," "Lackin," and "Butterflies."
Founded in 2010 by Ghazi Shami, Empire is a record label that has worked with Kendrick Lamar, Bebe Rexha, and 50 Cent, among others.
