Lara Quigaman embraces white hair: 'Ilang taon ko tinago, tiniis, tinakpan and I'm done'
Lara Quigaman is "letting go of perfection" and embracing her white hair.
On Instagram, the Miss International 2005 titleholder got real about trying to hide her white hair for years by coloring it, but said that ends now as she decides to fully embrace it.
“Ilang taon ko tinago, tiniis, tinakpan, and I’m done,” she wrote. “Pagod na ako. Ayoko na.”
The 43-year-old said having white hair at an early age runs in her genes, noting that she first spotted a strand of white hair when she was 12.
“Since my early thirties, I have been dyeing my hair almost every two weeks just to cover the whites we got from our papa,” she said.
“My papa already had almost fully white hair in his 30s,” she added. “My brothers, my sister, and I all have a head full of whites and greys.”
This time, however, she said she is ready to accept the natural changes in her hair.
“I’m finally letting go of ‘perfection’ and embracing my God-given white hair that comes not just with age, but with genetics too,” she said.
“So, call me lola or grandma, it’s okay,” she added. “I’m going to try and rock this white hair.”
Lara acknowledged that it will not be easy, admitting that there are times when she looks in the mirror "and just wants to cover it all up again.”
“That’s why I’m posting this now to give myself courage,” she said. “Will you help me? Maybe even join me on this journey?”
In the comment section, Filipino celebrities, including Camille Prats, Dimples Romana, and Karen Ibasco, sent positive messages to Lara.
“You are amazing!” Camille commented. “My whites are starting to show, and I'm contemplating whether I should dye or not. This is so inspiring!”
As of writing, Lara’s post has garnered over 17 million views.
In June 2025, Lara earned her diploma for Early Childhood Education in Vancouver, Canada.
She has been married to Marco Alcaraz since 2011, and they have three sons.
