Are stars born or made? Vina Morales, Tessie Tomas weigh in

Are people born to shine or is it a process to be learned? Vina Morales and Tessie Tomas weighed in on this on Tuesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."

For Vina, she believes that everybody is born to shine, as God has written a journey for everyone.

"But of course, if you want to make it, mag-shine ka pa, you really have to improve all the way in your journey," the actress and singer said.

Tessie agreed, and said that "there is a light within you."

"You have to let that light shine from within," Tessie said. "And also, tama siya—push yourself to go to the top of the ladder."

In the context of showbiz, Tessie then said stars are not born given the competitive industry.

"You just have to slug it out and make yourself shine," the veteran actress said.

Vina also said that longevity is crucial yet difficult, "kasi ang bilis ng pagpalit ng artists ngayon. Unless you really give your best and you have work ethics, and you shine all the time."

"It's really much harder [to shine] now," Tessie said, as artists are required to be multitalented in singing, dancing, and acting.

Vina and Tessie star in GMA Afternoon Prime series "Born to Shine," which airs Mondays to Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
