John Vic De Guzman shares reservist training proved useful on 'Taskforce Firewall' set

John Vic De Guzman said his real-life military training became useful while working on the upcoming Kapuso action series “Taskforce Firewall.”

During the show’s media conference on Tuesday, the actor and Philippine Air Force reservist shared that being part of the action project is a dream role for him, especially because of its military and operations-focused scenes.

“Sa totoo lang, isa ‘to sa mga pinapangarap kong role, ang isa sa maging parang operations, sundalo,” he said.

John Vic explained that his training as an Air Force reservist allowed him to guide his fellow cast members in some aspects of tactical movement and combat preparation.

“Sa tulong ng Air Force, talagang lahat ng na-training ko doon, at least kahit papaano nabigyan ko sila ng idea kung paano talaga mag-[close quarters battle], kung paano pasukin ‘yung building, kapag nasa jungle. At least kahit papaano, marami tayong natutunan,” he said.

Per John Vic, the learning process on set went both ways.

“Kung may naitutulong ako sa kanila when it comes to handling different kinds of guns, ‘yung natutulong naman din nila sa akin [ay] sa pag-acting at tsaka sa mga fight scenes like ‘yung mga judo-judo, mga suntukan, and talagang masasabi kong challenging at the same time na-e-enjoy ko,” he said.

"Taskforce Firewall" stars Kylie Padilla, Miguel Tanfelix, Jak Roberto, Lexi Gonzales, Buboy Villar, Cheska Fausto, and more.

It is set to premiere on GMA Network on May 25. —CDC, GMA News
