Ruru Madrid, Dennis Trillo to headline upcoming series 'Hari ng Tondo'

Ruru Madrid and Dennis Trillo are set to headline the upcoming series “Hari ng Tondo,” where they will play Gabriel Salvacion and Edgardo “Egay” Casimiro, respectively.

On Wednesday, the Kapuso stars gathered for the show’s story conference, where the cast also held a script reading for the project.

Ruru told GMA News Online that he first learned about “Hari ng Tondo” about two years ago, though he did not initially know who would be joining the cast.

“Last year, sinabi sa akin na parang si Kuya Dennis daw ‘yung makakasama ko dito sa project na ‘to. Parang pagsabi pa lang sa ‘kin, natapos na ‘yung ‘Green Bones,’ natapos na lahat ng nangyari, sobrang natuwa ako kasi sobrang dream ko talaga na laging makasama si Kuya Dennis sa trabaho,” Ruru said.

He praised Dennis, saying their collaboration pushes him to improve as an artist.

“Alam ko, pagka si Kuya Dennis kasama ko, kahit ako as an actor napu-push din ako sa limits ko dahil ganun siya eh. Very generous actor at napakahusay. So right now na teleserye gagawin namin, mas mahaba, mas marami akong matututunan,” Ruru said.

Dennis, meanwhile, expressed gratitude for landing another major project with GMA.

“Nung nalaman ko na may bagong project, matutuloy na, syempre parang may ginagawa pa rin ako non. Syempre sobrang saya dahil madaming blessings, madaming trabaho, at hindi lang basta trabaho kundi isang malaking project sa GMA,” he said.

He likewise expressed excitement about working with Ruru again.

“Excited ako dun sa sa cast, dun sa mga nakatrabaho ko, kasi karamihan sa kanila mga kasama ko sa ‘Green Bones,’ so excited akong makatrabaho sila ulit. And doon naman sa mga ibang cast na hindi ko pa nakakatrabaho, syempre excited din dahil marami kang matututunan sa mga sa mga bagong katrabaho, marami kang mga experiences na mga mararanasan,” Dennis said.

“Hari ng Tondo” is directed by Enzo Williams and will also star Ryza Cenon, Ysabel Ortega, Arra San Agustin, Rocco Nacino, Gary Estrada, Victor Neri, Nonie Buencamino, Isko Moreno, and Heath Jornales.
