Why is Apple David trending?

Courtside reporter Apple David has become a hot topic on social media due to her rumored romance with Letran basketball player Chad Gammad.

Some netizens took issue with their age difference: David is 33 years old, while Gammad turned 18 in October 2025.

On a TikTok live Monday, David slammed netizens who have been criticizing her but didn't categorically confirm their relationship.

The video, which has since been deleted on TikTok, is making the rounds online thanks to netizens who were able to download it.

"Sobrang hirap bang rumespeto ng desisyon ng ibang tao? We're happy. Supportive ang families namin. Ang pangit lang na we're happy tas sinisira n'yo ang happiness namin," David said in the video.

(Is it too hard to respect other people's decisions? We're happy. Our families are supportive. It's sad that we're happy but other people are destroying our happiness.)

She also said that the young athlete was already of legal age when they met.

"Naiintindihan ko na bata siya but he's not a minor," she said. "I'm not even a groomer, 18 na siya nung nakilala ko siya. Hindi ko naman siya pinalaki."

(I understand he's young but he's not a minor. I'm not even a groomer. He's 18 when I met him. I didn't even raise him.)

A groomer is someone who builds trust and an emotional connection with a child in order to manipulate, exploit, or sexually abuse them, either immediately or later on.

David also said that she has the right to make her own choices when it comes to relationships, admitting that she and Gammad simply "clicked."

"I also have a choice. Masama ba bigyan ng chance 'yung 18 year old? Nag-click eh. What am I supposed to do?"

"Gets ko naman na mas bata siya, pero imbes na kwestyunin 'yung integridad ko, kwestyunin n'yo na lang 'yung intensyon n'yo," she added.

(I understand he is young but instead of questioning my integrity, ask what your intentions are.)

Some netizens, however, said the age difference still matters even though Gammad is already 18 years old. They said he is still a teenager and that he and David are in different stages of their lives.
