Claudine Barretto says her 'Home Along Da Riles' family helped her cope with deaths of mom, brother
Claudine Barretto became emotional as she shared how her longtime “Home Along Da Riles” family helped her navigate the grief of losing both her brother and mother within just four months apart.
During her guesting on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” with co-stars Vandolph and Boy2 Quizon on Friday, the actress said it was only recently that the weight of her loss truly began to sink in, noting that she had been keeping herself busy with work.
“You know, after doing my show sa kabilang network, ngayon ko lang talaga nararamdaman sa totoo lang,” she shared.
The actress credited her Cosme family from the hit sitcom for being a constant source of support during some of her most difficult moments.
“I wouldn’t be able na makayanan ang lahat ng ito kung wala ang Cosme family ko, totoo lang. There are days na hindi ko talaga kaya. Alam niyo ‘yon. And kahit madaling araw, kahit 24/7 naka-standby ‘yang dalawang ‘yon and si Maybelyn [Dela Cruz]” she said.
When asked what she misses most about her mother, fondly called Inday, Claudine reflected on the simple habit of wanting to share stories with her.
“Alam mo ’yung may times na may gusto kang ikwento then you reach for your phone, tapos 'ay wala na pala akong tatawagan.' Habit. That happens to me all the time,” she said.
Claudine’s eldest brother, Mito, passed away in September 2025. Four months later, their mother, Inday, died in January 2026.
Claudine and Vandolph recently reunited with their “Home Along Da Riles” co-stars for the sitcom’s reunion movie.
“Home Along Da Riles: Da Reunion” will premiere in cinemas on June 17.
