Dolly de Leon thrilled to play twins for the first time on 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
Dolly de Leon is thrilled to be part of the cast of "Avatar: The Last Airbender."
On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, the Filipina actress talked about her experience working on the live-action Netflix series.
Dolly said it was her first time playing twins, Lo and Li—fire-bending mentors to Azula, the princess of the Fire Nation.
"Pangalawa, kaeksena ko si Daniel Dae Kim na napaka husay na aktor," she said. "At tsaka syempre, legendary na 'yung 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' na show eh."
"Nung nalaman nga ng mga anak ko na na-cast ako dun sa show, sobra silang excited. At sila talaga nagsabi sa 'kin, 'Mom, kailangan mo gawin 'to. Kailangan mo gawin ang 'Avatar.'"
Dolly also said that her son was "sobrang proud" of her when the show came out.
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is the latest in the string of Dolly's international projects.
In 2022, she played the role of Abigail in the critically acclaimed film "Triangle of Sadness," which earned her historic nominations at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. Shortly after, she starred in her first American TV series, "Nine Perfect Strangers" Season 2.
Dolly has also been cast as Lola Fatima in the DreamWorks animated film "Forgotten Island."
Netflix's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" premiered its first season in February 2024. Season 2 is now streaming on the platform. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
