Yeng Constantino, Gloc-9 join 'The Voice Kids Philippines' as new coaches
Yeng Constantino and Gloc-9 are the new coaches of "The Voice Kids Philippines!"
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the two artists expressed their excitement to join Julie Anne San Jose in the coaches' chairs.
Yeng, the singer-songwriter behind many hits like "Hawak Kamay" and "Salamat," said she is looking forward to her first project under GMA Network.
"Siyempre po ano bilang isang mang-aawit, 'yung maging coach ka ng The Voice, isa 'yan sa mga checklist na gusto mong magawa sa iyong career and I'm just so grateful na ibinigay ito ng Panginoon in his right time," she said.
Gloc-9, the Filipino rapper behind iconic songs "Upuan" and "Sirena," said he won't be just imparting knowledge as a coach.
"Siguro kahit tawag nila sa akin coach dito, I'm sure marami akong matutunan sa aking mga fellow coaches, siyempre si Julie, si Yeng and 'yung mae-encounter and mami-meet naming mga batang singers," he said.
So what are the qualities they are looking for from the contestants?
"Ako gusto ko po talaga 'yung something unique, 'yun po talaga 'yung may identity pagdating sa pagperform. Gusto ko po 'yung marubdob kumanta," Yeng said.
"Iikot ako 'pag tama 'yung sabi ni yeng 'pag unang line pa lang nakuha mo na ko. Parang regardless kung nasa mataas 'yung note ka nung song and alam mo naman unang timbre pa lang pagkanta," Gloc-9 said.
Julie Anne, who is on her fourth year as a "The Voice Philippines" coach, gave her new colleagues some advice on what to expect from the competition.
"Be ready kasi ano siya, mind heart and soul talagang apektado ka. As in it's a great experience pero nakakakaba but at the same time ano siya paglalaruan 'yung emosyon mo especially we're dealing with kids," she said.
The new season of "The Voice Kids Philippines" will premiere soon on GMA Network. —MGP, GMA News
