Nico Bolzico speaks out after receiving 'genuine hate' for supporting Argentina at FIFA World Cup
Nico Bolzico took to social media to speak out after receiving hate messages for expressing his support for his home country, Argentina, at the FIFA World Cup.
On Instagram, the husband of Solenn Heussaff said he “had the privilege” of watching the World Cup final with his 83-year-old father and the rest of their family.
“It was also the first World Cup that Tili truly understood,” he said. “We watched some matches together, like I did with my dad growing up.”
“We love football. It runs through our veins. But we should never forget that it's just a sport—a sport that's meant to bring people together,” he added.
Unfortunately, Nico said that for the first time ever, he experienced “genuine hate on social media” over supporting Argentina.
“We've experienced genuine hate on social media simply because of the team we support, mostly from people who don't understand what sports truly represent or the values we believe in,” he said.
“Banter is part of football, hate is not,” he added.
Nico also admitted that he agrees with many of the criticisms, “but that’s never a reason to spread hatred toward anyone.”
In the end, he said that Spain “was the better team” throughout the final and that they “fully deserved to be champions.”
Argentina lost to Spain, 0-1, in the World Cup.
Nico has long been a football fan, often sharing stories on social media about watching the sport with his father while growing up.
Nico and Solenn have been married since 2016. They have two daughters: Thylane and Maelys.
