Cai Cortez graduates from college: '20 years in the making'

Cai Cortez never gave up on her dream of earning a college degree, no matter how long it took.

The Kapuso actress took to social media to share that she had finally graduated from college, earning a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Makati.

“20 years in the making,” Cai wrote, followed by a teary-eyed emoji.

She then dedicated the achievement to her parents, veteran actor Rez Cortez and his wife, Candy.

“Mom and dad, I hope you're proud of me even though it took this long to give you a diploma,” she said.

Cai also expressed her gratitude to her university for giving someone like her—a working single mom—the chance to finish her studies.

In July, she opened up about the painful collapse of her marriage and how her parents became her support system as she rebuilt her life as a solo parent.

Cai and Wissem got married in 2016 and called it quits in 2023. They have two kids, Bibo and Carmen.
