Heart Evangelista says reunion with John Prats was 'healing'

Heart Evangelista and John Prats gave their beloved fans a taste of nostalgia when they reunited earlier this year.

In an interview with GMA News Online at the sidelines of her contract signing with Sparkle on Tuesday, the Global Fashion Icon described her reunion with former ‘90s onscreen partner John Prats as a deeply healing experience.

“Nakakatawa kasi nakasama namin sila lumaki. Our love team ended abruptly. It’s just so nice na we couldn’t keep our love team forever but our friendship is now forever,” Heart said.

She added that she and John are happy to give their longtime supporters the “fanservice” they deserve after years of supporting their partnership.

“We’re giving them the fanservice that they deserve kasi they supported us and we laid the foundation and they’ve supported us for so many years when we were in our team,” she said.

Heart also expressed gratitude that she and John are now close again.

“I’m very, very thankful and happy that okay na ulit kami ni John and nagsasama kami and we’re very close and we’re a family,” she added.

‘Sobrang healing niya’

For Heart, working with John again brought back memories of their younger years and helped her heal from the painful ending of their partnership.

“It was really healing,” Heart said in Filipino when asked about their reunion.

Recalling how much she cried during that chapter of her life, The Kapuso star said reconnecting with John made her feel that a part of herself had finally healed.

“We promised each other that we will always be in each other's lives forever," Heart added.

Reunited after 20 years

Heart revealed that she and John had not properly seen or spent time together for more than two decades.

“Nakita niya ako sa airport one time, pero hindi ko siya nakita. Pero yung nagsama talaga kami, over two decades na,” Heart added, saying their long separation stemmed partly from the abrupt end of their love team.

“Tinanggal kami as a love team. Kasi parang, I feel like personally din, hindi na rin kami okay. And we were so young to handle so much pressure,” she said.

(We were removed as a love team. Because, I feel like personally, we weren't okay anymore either. And we were so young to handle so much pressure)

According to Heart, the experience was particularly difficult because they had spent five to six years together almost every day before suddenly losing touch.

“We never really got to talk about it. As in, from being together 24/7 everyday for like 5-6 years, to never seeing each other again.”

Heart teases upcoming project with John

The reunion may not be limited to their personal reconnection, as Heart confirmed she and John are working on something together.

“We are definitely working on something. And we’re very, very hands on. It’s very personal para sa amin,” she said.

While she didn’t go into details, Heart said she hopes to announce it officially soon.

“So hopefully, we will say what that is exactly,” she added.

In March, John and Heart meet up and went out for lunch together.

John also guested in Heart’s show “Heart World” where he revealed he was the actress’ first boyfriend.

As a popular love team in the early 2000s, John and Heart starred in several projects together such as “G-Mik,” “Trip,” “Ang Tanging Ina,” “My First Romance” and “Berks.”
