Derek Ramsay gets involved in LTO probe over supercar with allegedly fake plate

Derek Ramsay has been asked to explain his involvement in an ongoing Land Transportation Office (LTO) investigation involving a supercar found using an allegedly fake plate number.

According to Ivan Mayrina’s report in “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday, the agency identified Ramsay as the registered owner of the vehicle found being driven by a businessman.

The LTO has since impounded the supercar and suspended the driver's licenses of both Ramsay and the businessman for 90 days while the investigation is ongoing.

Based on the LTO's initial findings, Ramsay had allegedly sold the vehicle to the businessman. However, the vehicle had not yet been transferred to the buyer's name, leaving Ramsay as its registered owner in the agency's records.

Lacanilao said the businessman allegedly created the plate with his initials.

Because Ramsay remains the registered owner, the actor has been included in the individuals who must appear before the LTO to provide an explanation on August 24.

“He needs to prove to us at the LTO whether he had already sold the vehicle or merely lent it out so we can clarify the matter. He needs to present the deed of sale showing that he sold the vehicle to that person so we can determine whether the buyer is solely responsible for the violation,” said LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Marcos Lacanilao.

Meanwhile, Ramsay told GMA News that the public should first carefully read the LTO's statement before drawing any conclusions about the case. —Jade Veronique Yap/JCB, GMA News
