Who is Chris Cahilig? 5 things about Bea Alonzo’s new interim manager

Following the reported resignation of Bea Alonzo’s longtime manager, Shirley Kuan, the Kapuso actress has tapped Chris Cahilig as her new interim agent.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Chris said he has maintained a long-standing business relationship with Bea’s husband, Vincent Co, whose company, Puregold is among Chris' clients for content production.

“We have been working for a long time so they know how I work and all,” he said.

“Since Bea needs someone to take care of the unfinished business and the inquiries for all the endorsements and everything — that’s why I came in as an interim manager for her,” Chris added.

If you’re curious about Bea’s new manager, here are five things to know about Chris.

1. He was a former journalist

Before venturing into public relations and marketing, Chris worked as a reporter for The Manila Times. He also founded Radar PH, an independent multimedia platform, for which he now stands as publisher.

2. He has a PR and marketing agency

Chris founded Insight 360, a public relations and marketing agency that has handled major brands, including Puregold, DigiPlus, VistaLand, NutriAsia, and Nestlé, among others.

3. He also handles influencers

While Bea is currently the only show business artist he manages, Chris works with several content creators in the country through his influencer marketing company, Sphere.

4. He is considered the “Father of P-pop"

Aside from talent management, Chris is also known for his work with the group 1:43, which he claims led to him being considered the “Father of P-pop.”

“They are the ones behind ‘Sa Isang Sulyap Mo,’ which is the first massive hit song that is P-pop,” he said.

According to Chris, the song is “the defining song of the first generation of P-pop.”

5. He produces micro-dramas

Before Chinese micro-dramas became popular on social media, Chris was already producing similar content.

In 2022, he produced a micro-drama for Puregold titled “52 Weeks,” which ran for 36 episodes.

“Before all these Chinese micro-dramas and everything, I was doing it already,” he said.

“I was considered the father of branded shorts because I was collaborating with brands, creating narratives around their brands,” he added.

In 2023, “52 Weeks” won Best Social Media Campaign at the Hashtag Asia Awards. — LA, GMA News
