Kim Chiu's sister released from QC jail —BJMP

The sister of actress-host Kim Chiu has been released from jail in Quezon City, according to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Friday.

BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera told GMA News Online that Chiu's sister was released on Thursday afternoon.

"Confirmed. She was released from Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory yesterday, 24 September 2026, at 5:32 p.m.,” Bustinera said in a message.

Chiu's sister was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Mandaluyong City by virtue of an arrest warrant issued against her for 124 counts of Qualified Theft.

During a manhunt operation, police said Chiu's sister was apprehended by Kamuning Police Station operatives at a parking area along Saint Francis St., Barangay Wack Wack in Mandaluyong City at around 4:06 p.m.

The warrant was issued by Branch 24 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, which set bail at P5,838,000.00.

In December 2025, Kim filed a qualified theft complaint against her older sister after discovering “serious financial discrepancies” in her business.

"This decision did not come easily. It is one of the most painful steps I have ever taken in my life," the actress earlier said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, substantial amounts connected to my business assets were found missing. These discoveries forced me to take formal action to protect not just my company, but also the livelihoods of the people who work with me and the integrity of everything I have built,” she added.

Chiu's sister pleaded not guilty to the qualified theft case on Thursday.—AOL, GMA News
