Alden Richards on being a good person: 'No one can take that away'

Alden Richards said on Sunday that being a good person is something he takes pride in, as he emphasized that kindness and goodness are qualities no one can ever take away from him.

Speaking at the Hero for All 2026 awarding ceremony, the Asia’s Multimedia Star encouraged attendees to practice kindness in their everyday lives, saying he believes good deeds eventually find their way back to those who do them.

“I really do believe that if there's one thing I'm proud of, sabihin ninyo nang mayabang ako, pero alam ko at the end of the day, I am a good person," Alden said in a video shared by GMA News’ Aubrey Carampel.

"No one can take that away, and I'm sure gusto ko ganun din yung maging mindset ng mga heroes natin na you can be proud to tell the world that you're a good person,” he added.

He also encouraged the awardees to continue doing good, reminding them that kindness would eventually be repaid, whether positively or negatively, depending on one’s actions.

“Please be proud of that fact. Keep on throwing it… at the universe kasi it's a form of manifestation na if you always do good, good will come back to you. In our lifetime, in our daily lives, I do believe that we always get what we deserve, may it be good or bad,” he said.

Through the AR Foundation, Alden helped select and honor 20 unsung Filipino heroes from across the country, recognizing individuals from diverse backgrounds who have made meaningful contributions to their communities.

In his message, Alden also emphasized that being a good person costs nothing, regardless of one's occupation or social standing.

“Ang maganda kasi sa aspeto ng pagiging mabuti po, e libre. Libre siya eh. Lahat pwedeng gumawa nito eh… Ano kaman sa buhay, cameraman ka, you're a server here,” he said.

(What’s good about being kind is that it’s free. It costs nothing. Anyone can do it, no matter who you are or what you do in life—whether you’re a cameraman or a server.)

“... At the end of the day, if there’s one thing that no one can ever take away from you, it’s the goodness of your heart. So guard it. Guard it with your life and always care about the people around you,” he added.—MCG, GMA News
