Fil-Canadian Eric Bauza, who voiced Bugs Bunny, dies at 46

Eric Bauza, the Emmy Award-winning voice actor behind several iconic “Looney Tunes” characters, has passed away. He was 46.

Bauza’s family confirmed his death in a statement posted on his official Instagram account.

“Eric Bauza, Emmy Award-winning voice actor and the modern voice of iconic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with dozens of other beloved cartoon characters, has passed away suddenly,” the family statement read.

According to Variety, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that his cause of death was hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

Aside from Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, the Filipino-Canadian actor also voiced other “Looney Tunes” characters, including Tweety, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, Road Runner, and Charlie the Dog in the film “Coyote vs. Acme.”

Before his death, Bauza was working on two projects in pre-production: “Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical,” in which he was set to voice Daffy Duck, and “The Dragon Masters,” in which he was set to voice the Shogun King.

In previous interviews, Bauza described voicing Bugs Bunny as “a dream come true,” having grown up as a big fan of Mel Blanc, the original voice actor behind Bugs Bunny and several other iconic “Looney Tunes” characters.
