Mark Anthony Fernandez: Moving on

Barely a month after his father’s death, Mark Anthony Fernandez is slowly picking up the pieces and moving on with his life. Concentrating on his craft rather than his grief, Mark is reaping the rewards of his dedication to his work. Still mourning his loss, Mark Anthony Fernandez refused to dwell on his sorrow and opted to turn his attention to his craft. Doing well in GMA’s newest primetime offering, Ako si Kim Samsoon, Mark earned the respect of many of his peers in the industry. What’s really remarkable is that he is doing a comic role and mind you he is quite effective despite his inner struggle. “Sobra kasing mahal na mahal ko na 'yung work ko," says Mark and explains that this is one of his father’s legacy. “Lahat ng naipayo sa akin ni papa, dala-dala ko pa rin at sinusunod ko." But despite his bravado, he admits that he sometimes catches himself thinking about his father and a fresh wave of grief envelopes him. “Kapag ganoon ang nararamdaman ko, naglalakad na lang ako. Nagpapaka-busy para ma-focus sa ibang bagay ang isip ko," explains Mark who is obviously trying to make the interview light despite the seriousness of the topic. Cyrus, The Great Portraying Cyrus in the koreanovela remake, Ako si Kim Samsoon, Mark admits that he is thankful that this role landed on his lap. “I am kind of proud that I am part of the project. I feel like I made the right decisions here," shares Mark who has requested the GMA management for a comedic role after the success of his Kamandag stint. “Pinaka mahirap daw gawin na project ang comedy. Gusto kong i-challenge ang sarili ko. Na-grant naman ng GMA 'yung wish kong ‘yun, pinagbigyan nila ako," says Mark who admits that he was really excited when he learned that he will be working with Ms. Regine Velasquez. Doing everything that he can for the show, he says that this is sort of a therapy for him. And indeed, his efforts have paid off. One of the most love characters in the show is Cyrus.
