Tiya Dely's wishes granted at burial

MANILA, Philippines — Amid a "glamorosa" atmosphere, veteran broadcaster Fidela "Tiya Dely" Magpayo was buried at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City on Saturday afternoon. Radio dzRH reported that friends and relatives accommodated Magpayo's wishes that no one was to cry at her burial, and that it have a "glamorosa" atmosphere. The report said Magpayo's remains, clad in a Filipiniana outfit, were placed in a pink coffin during the burial also attended by her fans. Magpayo, 87, suffered a stroke during her program at dzRH before midnight last Aug. 30. She was rushed to the Manila Doctors Hospital but died last Sept. 1. Her colleagues at dzRH radio prepared an online tribute to her, documenting her decades in broadcasting. The video tributes, titled "DZRH: Tiya Dely Lives Forever," were posted on www.youtube.com and on Multiply (reysibayan.multiply.com). - GMANews.TV
