GMA Network keeps lead in primetime ratings in Mega Manila

MANILA, Philippines â GMA Network has kept its lead in primetime TV ratings, posting an average rating of 28.8 percent compared to ABS-CBNâs 23.8 percent for the first quarter of 2009, according to data from AGB Nielsen Philippines. Mega Manila is composed of Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, and Palawan), and Metro Manila. In Metro Manila, GMA has regained the lead in primetime TV ratings and has consistently held on to the advantage since late March. ABS-CBN temporarily took the lead in primetime TV ratings in Metro Manila for a number of days in the first months of 2009. GMA also continued to lead in total day TV ratings in Metro and Mega Manila. From March 22 to 28, GMA posted an average total day household TV rating of 15.3 percent against ABS-CBNâs 13.2 percent in Metro Manila. In Mega Manila, GMA got an average total day household TV rating of 16.9 percent against ABS-CBNâs 12.9 percent from March 23 to 29. GMAâs average audience share in Mega Manila was at 40.2 percent while ABS-CBN had 30.6 percent. Twenty-one out of the top 30 programs in Mega Manila belonged to GMA with the top four spots occupied by Kapuso shows. Primetime hit "Totoy Bato" led all programs in Mega Manila with an average household rating of 35.2 percent. "Zorro" was second with an average of 34.2 percent, followed by "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" with 31 percent and "Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang" with 29.4 percent. Primetime newscast "24 Oras," "All About Eve," and "Bitoyâs Funniest Videos" were 6th, 7th, and 8th place in Mega Manila, respectively. Other GMA programs that made it to the top 30 list include "Mel and Joey," "Fated to Love You," "Imbestigador," "Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin," "Eat Bulaga," "Kapâs Amazing Stories," "Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?," "My Dad is Better than Your Dad," "All Star K!," "Ful Haus," "Wow Hayop!," "Daisy Siete," "Bubble Gang," and "Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5?." GMA also kept its lead in Total Urban Luzon based on AGB data with an average total day TV rating of 15.5 percent against ABS-CBN's 14.0 percent from March 15 to 21.
