MANILA, Philippines – Chynna Ortaleza has gone a long way from the pa-kilig love team partner of Richard Gutierrez. Ngayon, nambubuwag na siya ng mga love teams, and she wants people to hate her for it. She has to make sure na hindi makukuha ng characters nina Herras and Mercado ang happy ending nila. "That's my job – and ako naman I'm confident na if [the fans] see me as the character, they are angry at my character [and] not me," she says. "For a long time na rin naman kilala na nila si Chynna," she explains. Since viewers are already aware of how Chynna is in real life, she doubts that people will get angry at her for playing the villain role." Dagdag pa niya: "Masaya nga ako e pag may nagsasabi na 'nakakainis ka.' Ibig sabihin effective ako." Prior to her portrayal of Maya sa "Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?," Ortaleza took on a slightly similar role sa "Codename: Asero." Nahirapan ba siya to differentiate one role from the other? "It's pretty similar," she says of her two roles, pero, she notes na it’s up to the actor to make each role unique. "It really depends on the artist on how you act it out, and I feel very confident because [we're] working under Joel Lamangan." Ortale;a shares na nakatrabaho na niya si Direk Joel before, sa "Obra" with Sunshine Dizon. "Yung emotion na [kailangan], napapalabas ni Direk Joel sa akin, so feeling ko, maga-guide niya talaga ako," she says. The actress even reveals na she's happy that she's finally getting to work with the director after many years. "I'm sure I'm gonna learn a lot," she notes. With this, Ortaleza couldn't be happier. "Nakikita ng tao [na] versatile ako – I can play good roles, I can play bad roles, I can play gray characters, so masaya lang ako kasi nagpaglalaruan ko talaga 'yung arte ko," she says. John Jason S.
