Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote is topgrosser of 36th MMFF

When Agimat crossed over to the world of Enteng Kabisote, the magic also crossed over to the box-office this holiday season. The team-up of Senator Bong Revilla Jr. and Vic Sotto proved to be a lucrative one when their movie, Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, earned P159 million in a span of 14 days. This makes the action-fantasy film the topgrosser in the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival. This was followed by Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last Na To!) with P157 million. Starring Ai-Ai delas Alas, this family drama-comedy was also hailed as the Best Picture in the awards night held last December 26. The suspense-thriller Dalaw, topbilled by Kris Aquino and Diether Ocampo, earned P96 million. Ric Camaligan, president of the National Cinemas Association of the Philippines and member of this year's MMFF executive committee, provided the box-office figures of the top three entries but declined to release those of the other entries. He says that the entries are still being screened in Philippine cinemas even though the film fest officially ended yesterday, January 7. The other entries are (in alphabetical order): the drama-comedy Father Jejemon; drama-film bio Rosario; the 3D animated film RPG: Metanoia; horror film Shake, Rattle and Roll XII; and the comedy-fantasy Super Inday and the Golden Bibe. All eight MMFF entries reached a combined total gross of P530 million during the 14-day film festival. This is P93 million higher compared to last year's results, wherein seven entries brought in a total of P437 million.
