iGMA: ‘Amaya’ stages record-breaking roadshow in North Central Luzon

Hot off the blockbuster success of their grand premiere on primetime TV, the powerhouse cast of Amaya staged a record-breaking two-day roadshow in North Central Luzon last June 4 and June 5.

This historic event sent thousands of fans and local residents into pandemonium as the lead stars of Amaya, Primetime Queen Marian Rivera conquered Pangasinan, Pampanga, Cabanatuan and Nueva Ecija. The roadshow was the network's most successful in terms of audience numbers with a massive crowd surge in every street, town and province on the event venues. The roadshow kicked off with a Kapuso Mall Show in SM City Rosales Event Center in Pangasinan on Saturday. Hordes of squealing fans were already waiting outside the mall premises hours before the show actually started. An estimated crowd of 5,000 went wild as the cast - Marian, Rochelle Pangilinan, Glaiza de Castro, Mikael Daez , Dion Ignacio, Sheena Halili and AJ Dee stepped onto the stage wearing their Amaya costumes. Thunderous roars filled the air when each artist performed special production numbers in front of the live audience. AJ captivated the fans with his rendition of the romantic ballad, "I'll Be". The crowd went ecstatic when Dion appeared and sang the popular song, "Your Love". Cheers became even louder when Sheena went onstage with the song titled "The Show". The crowd went even crazier when sultry actress Rochelle showed off her booty-shaking dance moves and performed her hit single "Baile". She even invited one female fan from the audience for a dance showdown. Loud screams welcomed Glaiza as she serenaded the spectators with Lady Gaga's "Born This Way". Everyone went all agog when Mikael was called onstage for a special game with two lucky female fans. The crowd roared with excitement when the ladies gamely kissed Mikael and hugged him. But the massive uproar erupted when the main star of Amaya - Marian Rivera showed up and took the centerstage. The mere mention of her name drew ear-deafening screams and cheers from the audience who scrambled in their seats to get a glimpse of their favorite Kapuso star. While she sang in front of the audience, Marian gamely posed for pictures with her excited fans and even shook hands with them. The mall show ended with the whole cast appearing onstage once more to personally thank the audience for their warm welcome and invited them to support Amaya on GMA Telebabad. 20 lucky Pangasinenses were given a chance to have pictures with the whole cast. Kapuso comedian Mike "Pekto" Nacua and one of the cast members of Amaya Wendell Salgado served as hosts of the successful mall show. The Amaya convoy traveled next to Dagupan for the motorcade around the main streets of the city. The entire cast donned their Amaya costumes and gathered in the float which was built like the Karakoa ship used in the epic series. Pandemonium broke out in the streets with a crowd estimate of 100,000 who descended and waited patiently at Perez St, Del Pilar St, Burgos St, Tapuac St and Lucao St to get a glimpse of the Kapuso stars. Multitudes of reveling fans followed the motorcade and joined in the mania as screams of delight rose in the air with the cast waving, laughing and posing for pictures to all the euphoric residents. After the motorcade, Marian, Rochelle, Glaiza, Sheena, Mikael, Dion and AJ proceeded to CSI The City Mall Dagupan Atrium for the Kapuso Mall Show. The evening became doubly memorable when the cast went up the stage to thank the Pangasinenses for making Amaya the most talked about epic series in the country. The stars gamely joined in on the fun and participated in a game with some members of the audience. Screams of excitement exploded with Rochelle, Glaiza, Sheena, Mikael, Dion and AJ performed various song and dance numbers for the Kapusos in the jam-packed event center. When Marian was called in next, the Primetime Queen was greeted with ear-splitting cheers from the crowd. With her undeniable star appeal and oozing charisma, Marian definitely brought the house down with her performance and egged on the audience to dance along with her signature hit song, "Sabay, Sabay Tayo". The mall show was capped off with a dance showdown of the Kapuso stars together with 20 lucky fans who got a rare chance to share the stage with their favorite celebrities. The second day of the roadshow began with a Kapuso Mall Show in SM City Pampanga Event Center San Fernando City on Sunday. Wearing their intricately-designed Amaya costumes, the cast one by one appeared onstage to greet the frenzied crowd of 10,000 in the overfilled event venue. Despite the sweltering heat and humidity inside the mall, the temperature did not dampen the spirits of thousands of fans who roared with delight every time the stars showed up and performed special production numbers. The loudest cheers of the day were heard when Marian emerged and charmed Pampangeños with her sense of humor and showmanship. She even greeted the rapturous crowd using the Kapampangan dialect which drew deafening shrieks from the delighted audience. Her star power was very palpable with spectators, young and old, scrambling to get closer to the stage and take a picture with her. After their highly-successful mall show in Pampanga, Marian, Sid Lucero, Mikael, Glaiza, Sheena, Dion, AJ and Buboy Villar hit the road for their motorcade in Cabanatuan City. It was an overwhelming scene as a crowd estimate of half a million swarmed the streets of Burgos and Maharlika Highway to greet and cheer on the overjoyed cast in the Karakoa float. The Amaya motorcade, which was the network's first-ever major event in the city, drew a sea of jubilant fans which seemed to be growing larger by the second. All the major streets in Cabanatuan were jammed to the rafters with residents who had been waiting for hours just to catch a glimpse of their favorite Kapuso celebrities. Thousands of people lined the streets, smiling and waving at the delighted Amaya cast. Right after the successful motorcade, Marian together with the rest of the cast made the night truly memorable with a Kapuso Mall Show in NE Pacific Mall Parking Lot Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. Frenzied fans flocked to the parking lot of the mall and shrieked wildly when the artists came onstage and entertained the audience with song and dance numbers. They became extremely euphoric when Sid played the keyboard and sang onstage. But the evening's highlight was the grand appearance of Kapuso Network's Primetime Queen. An eager and enthusiastic multitude of shrieking Marian fanatics were in near hysteria when she finally appeared onstage. Marian gave an all-out performance singing and dancing along with the audience. She even called on the other Amaya cast members to join and dance with her. The extravaganza concluded with a dance face-off of the whole cast with 20 lucky Amaya fans who joined them onstage. Aside from the various performances from the artists and on-ground presentations, an audio visual presentation of the pilot week of Amaya and the epic series' MTV were played throughout the two-day mall shows in the event venues.
