Cesar Montano may do Hollywood-remake of Ligalig

Cesar Montano may again get to work in a Hollywood production, this time a remake of Ligalig, which he starred in, directed, and produced for the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival. According to the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP - www.pep.ph), Montano broke the news during a press conference for Ligalig last Dec. 4 at Baang Coffee on Tomas Morato, Quezon City. If this pushes through, Ligalig will be the second Filipino film to be remade in Hollywood, after Yam Laranas's Sigaw. Back in 2003, Montano appeared in Miramax Films' The Great Raid with Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Fiennes, and James Franco. Montano said he had met with Lawrence Vender, the producer of From Dusk Till Dawn which starred George Clooney and was directed by Quentin Tarantino. Montano showed Vender, one of the producers of The Great Raid, a trailer of Ligalig, but the producer wanted to see the entire film. Montano would send a copy as soon as he has finished post-production work on the film. "Nothing's definite. rhere is nothing to brag about yet," Montano said. "Wala pang certainty, but I'm hoping na maganda ang kalabasan ng pag-uusap namin." For the full story, visit the PEP website at www.pep.ph. - GMANews.TV
