The DFA said Philippine Ambassador to Italy Virgilio Reyes Jr. congratulated de Rossi and thanked the Associazione Internazionale Pugliesi nel Mondo for recognizing the actress as an outstanding offspring of Puglia.

“Pugliesi nel Mondo is an award given to outstanding citizens born in or originated from the Italian region of Puglia,” the DFA noted.

De Rossi, whose real name is Alessandra Schiavone, was born to Filipina Nenita Tiotangco, and Italian Luigi Schiavone, who hails from Martano, Puglia.

She gained critical acclaim when she won the title of Best Supporting Actress at the FAMAS Awards at age 16 for her role in the film Azucena.

Recently, de Rossi starred in Busong, a film by director Auraeus Solito. The film was received with a standing ovation when it premiered at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in May. It also bagged the International Critic’s Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival earlier this year. –AL/KG, GMA News
