Kim Chiu spent Christmas with family, minus her Mama

"Umuwi po ako sa amin, sa Cebu," Kim Chiu said, when asked about where she spent Christmas. She did not mention that it was her grandmother's house in Cebu she went to. This is the place where her siblings now live, but without their mother and father around. Talking to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on Wednesday, the pretty Kim added: "Nag-celebrate kami doon. The Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Teen Edition grand winner took time off from promoting and filming her first-ever teleserye, ABS-CBN's Sana Maulit Muli, which co-stars former PBB housemate and on-screen partner Gerald Anderson. She really wanted to spend the holidays with her family, she said. The young actress failed to mention her mother. Kim's parents separated when she was only nine years old. Her dad began a new family and moved to Mindoro. Her mom left too and moved to Hong Kong. Kim hasn't seen her "Mama" in six years, and it's not clear whether she knows where her "Mama" is now. Kim once said on ABS-CBN that her mother would sometimes call to check up on her and that this is the only communication they have. The tabloids have also reported that Kim spoke to her mother before she joined Pinoy Big Brother, and that, after she was declared "grand winner," her mother sent her congratulations through her father. But no one really knows. Kim herself does not say much about her mother. In past interviews, her eyes would well up in tears when questions veered toward her parents' separation. The only known printed interview with Kim about her family is dated June 6, 2006 in Abante Tonite. The paper's entertainment editor, Jerry Olea, asked Kim if she had bitter feelings toward her mother and father who both left her. This time, when PEP asked Kim if she spoke with her mother last Christmas, the 16-year-old simply shook her head. After which the Aalog-alog star managed to send a message to her mom: "Para po kay Mama, sana masaya po ang Pasko niya, ‘tsaka Happy New Year sa kanya." Kim added: "Sana magkita na kami." - Philippine Entertainment Portal
