Filipino A-List "Call Me Maybe" video goes viral

What happens when you throw the country's top artistas in a room with a camera and a pop song? The same thing that happens to most of us: a completely hilarious and over-the-top cover. Not to be outdone by the likes of Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez, Filipino A-listers Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heussaff, Isabelle Daza, Bea Soriano, Carla Humphries, Raymond Gutierrez, Liz Uy, and even Rep. Manny Pacquiao, among others, combined their considerable talents to create their own 'Call Me Maybe' video, which has lit up Twitter and Youtube since it was posted three days ago. Normally we only get to see these beautiful gals making model faces for glossy magazine covers, so to witness them booty-shaking and busting out the Dude Love dance like their lives depended on it is a surreal treat. Miguel Lugtu, the editor of the video who is also deputy art director of Rogue Magazine, talked to GMA News Online about the personalities that make it so fun to watch. "[The video] actually came from a tweet of Georgina Wilson. She asked if I could edit it.” “When you put all these girls together as a group, they bring out each others' crazy sides. It's Anne Curtis who people knew had a funny side, so the video really showed a side to the others that we don't normally see on TV or in magazines. They didn't really care how silly they looked at times and I think that's why people are really connecting to it." The industry heavyweights worked hard at having fun, filming the video in between photoshoots and after hours. “All the shoots were organized by Georgina and Belle Daza. I think there were 3 sessions of filming. First was during their cover shoot for Preview, and the other two in their friends' houses. Even I was surprised at how they all really committed to the concept and idea and just had fun.” Filipinos go crazy for a good song and dance and the local reaction to seeing their favorite stars giving it their all has been overwhelming. "We’ve been getting so many comments and tweets about how the video made people's days and that's really what it was supposed to be about." In a show of solidarity, the stars put the world on notice by adding the national tourism tagline to the title of the video. "The idea of adding 'It's more fun in the Philippines' actually came from Erwan Heussaff. It was a great idea to tag it with our tourism slogan. At least if people abroad see the video, it's tagged that it's from the Philippines." “Call Me Maybe,” a top 5 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 by Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen, has spawned numerous viral videos of choreographed dances to the pop song.
