The Judy Ann Santos-Ryan Agoncillo movie Kasal, Kasali, Kasalohas raked in P100 million at the box office, overtaking Enteng Kabisote 3, according to a Star Cinema insider. The romantic-comedy movie was Star Cinema's entry to the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). It bagged the 2nd Best Picture award and the Best Actress trophy for Judy Ann, among others. But controversy marred the annual film festival when Enteng Kabisote 3 was awarded Best Picture because, according to the filmfest committee's ruling, 40 percent of the box-office revenue of any entry was part of the criteria for the award. In the first four days of the MMFF, the Vic Sotto-starrer made a killing at the box-office. But after a week, when the MMFF fever died down, the Juday and Ryan-starrer broke the box-office record of Enteng Kabisote 3 and became the topgrosser. But that's all water under the bridge now. Showbiz observers and the entertainment press are now anticipating if the couple will be crowned Box-Office King and Queen in the upcoming Guillermo Mendoza Foundation Award. The group gives awards to showbiz personalities whose sole merit is, well, being most popular. In the case of Box-Office King and Queen, the actor and actress whose movies made most money at the tills. Santos shared her thoughts about the possibility of Agoncillo and her being crowned as Box-Office King and Queen, during the Valentine party-cum-press con of Your Song, ABS-CBN's weekly romance TV series held at the network's 9501 Restaurant. "Marami pa kasing pwedeng mangyari. May mga pelikulang inilabas din last year na sobrang tindi rin. Yung kumita nang husto na mas matindi pa. I'm not expecting anything. Kami [ni Ryan], hindi kami nag-i-expect ng kahit ano," Santos said. "Kung ibibigay sa amin, mas magpapasalamat kami nang todo-todo. Kung hindi, okay lang din. Sapat na sa amin na napanood ng lahat ng tao yung pelikula namin at hanggang ngayon ay palabas pa rin siya," she continued. Will they have something new to offer their fans â considering the extended run of Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and their inclusion in Your Song? "Hopefully, meron naman," Santos said. "Hindi pa naman nauubos ang istorya. Hindi pa rin naman kami nauubusan ng mga pwede naming gawing gimik sa bawat episode na gagawin namin." Agoncillo added: "Hindi pa namin kasi nati-tape yung episode [for Your Song]. But we're really excited dahil ang magiging director namin, si Direk Andoy [Ranay], na kasama namin when we first did Your Songâyung nag-parlorista ako kunwari. Ngayon, direktor na namin siya. "Kami kasi, every set na mapuntahan namin, parang nangyayari picnic para sa lahat. And we're looking forward to really working with Direk Andoy now kasi I'm sure, masaya ang kalalabasan. Santos and Agoncillo will be the featured couple in the episode "I Have to Say I Love You in a Song," the grand finale of Your Song this February.
