MTRCB places Party Pilipinas on probation for Lovi-Rocco dance
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has placed Party Pilipinas on a six-month probation subject to a per episode review over “sexually charged scenes” in its show that aired on January 27.
In its Twitter account, MTRCB also directed Party Pilipinas, a Sunday music variety show, to air a public apology and publish the same in a newspaper of general circulation. The review body also ordered the officers, director, and producer of Party Pilipinas responsible for the questioned episode to undergo gender sensitivity training. In an sms message to GMA News Online, MTRCB chair Eugenio Villareal confirmed MTRCB's tweets on the ruling.
The episode showed actress Lovi Poe and actor Rocco Nacino doing a suggestive dance on a propped-up bed while dancers in the background also did a sexy dance.
MTRCB thanked the public for its vigilance in reporting the supposed violation of Party Pilipinas.
“The Party Pilipinas issue was an opportunity for the network and its audience to dialogue through the MTRCB,” the agency said.
The body also thanked GMA Network management for its candor, maturity, and cooperation in addressing the Party Pilipinas issue.
According to its Corporate Communications office, GMA Network Inc. will issue a public apology on Sunday during Party Pilipinas. – Amita Legaspi, GMA News
