Did Kris Aquino threaten ex-husband James Yap by dropping the name of her brother, President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III? During her interview on GMA News TV program “State of the Nation with Jessica Soho”, Kris Aquino was asked for her reaction to Yap's earlier statement that Aquino had dropped the name of her brother as a veiled threat. Yap alleged that Aquino said, “Baka nakalimutan mo, three years pa [ang term] yung brother ko.” Kris did not deny the accusation and passed off the question to sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada. For her part, elder sister Aquino-Abellada made it clear that, despite their original misgivings on the marriage between Kris and Yap, the family had thought well of him. “We were very, very kind to him,” said Aquino-Abellada, “At alam ko meron siyang interview na siya mismo nagsasabi, 'Mabait ang pamilya Aquino sa akin.'” “James, alam mo talaga yun,” she added. She also explained that even after the marriage between her sister and Yap ended, she and eldest sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz continued to exchange text messages. A recent set of messages was even an exchange of birthday greetings. At this point, Aquino-Cruz chimed in and related an incident in which Kris and she tried to convince Bimby, Yap and Kris' son, that his father was a good man. “Pinuri ko ng pinuri,” said Aquino-Cruz, “Kasi sino ba naman ang isang taong, mahal mo yung bata, na gusto mo meron siyang sadness, hatred in his heart? Gusto mo the kid will grow up happy.” The interview would go on for almost another four minutes, but neither the President's name nor Yap's allegation was ever mentioned again. — DVM/ELR, GMA News
