Makati court gags Kris Aquino, James Yap camps

A Makati court has prevented both the camps of TV host-actress Kris Aquino and her former husband basketball player James Yap from making further public pronouncements about their ongoing family problem. The gag order was issued in connection with the basketball star's plea for the issuance of a hold departure order against Kris, who earlier asked for the issuance of a temporary protection order seeking to bar Yap from getting near their son, a report by GMA News' Nelson Canlas said. The court is expected to rule on the HDO request at 3 p.m. Friday, the report added. Kris, in her own petition, asked for protection from the Makati court after Yap allegedly tried to “overstep his boundaries and of attempting to seduce her while visiting her home, and of inflicting psychological harm on their son Bimby." The celebrity host also accused Yap of hurting her in December last year "as if he was still entitled to his matrimonial rights." In an interview with Jessica Soho on GMA News TV Thursday night, Kris said she has decided to resign from all her current shows and was planning to leave the country over the weekend. During Friday's hearing, Yap's legal counsel Lorna Kapunan said Kris' revelation of quitting her shows and going abroad made their HDO request the more urgent. In response, Kris' lawyer Frank Chavez said an HDO would violate his client's right to travel, adding that such an order is issued only for issues of national concern. Kapunan however said they wanted an HDO issued not to prevent Kris and her son from traveling abroad but just to be notified on where and when the mother and son plan to travel. Kris' interview last night did not sit well with Yap's camp, which said the matter should have been discussed in court and not in the media. — Mark Merueñas /LBG, GMA News
