Jaclyn Jose brings comedic twist to an otherwise heavy drama

When GMA Network launched its now top-rating primetime series "Mundo Mo'y Akin" in May, it promised to deliver heavy, heart wrenching drama, and the program indeed turned out to be what its network had promised it to be.   Viewers, however, did not expect that the so-called heavy drama will be made a little lighter by a subtle brand of comedy that will emanate from the unlikeliest of characters – Doña Charito, portrayed by actress Jaclyn Jose. Doña Charito is the matriarch of the affluent Carbonel family.   Doña Charito's being the comic relief in the series was purely unintentional and developed only later in the program's story. It is a welcome surprise as viewers now post and share memes (a material, usually photo, which spreads from person to person via the Internet), and discuss Doña Charito's "quotable quotes" all over the internet.   Here are six of our favorite Doña Charito moments in the series:   It is so cheap and dirty!   Since time immemorial, Doña Charito and the Carbonels have always looked down on Jerome (Alden Richards) because he was poor. This challenged Jerome to study and work hard so he could be a successful businessman. And when Jerome earned enough capital to start his own business, he put up a restaurant. On opening day, Doña Charito invited her friends to “appraise” Jerome’s new restaurant. As expected, she humiliated Jerome in front of other customers.   Where is the funeral?     After seeding negative publicity about Jerome’s new restaurant to members of the press, Doña Charito criticized Giselle’s (Angelika) black dress.     Nagsisimba ka pala?   When Doña Charito crossed paths with her estranged “former” grand daughter Darlene (Lauren Young) inside a church, she lambasted the latter for being a “hypocrite.” Darlene retaliated saying that she became so only because she was raised by a bunch of demons. This infuriated Doña Charito.   Hello… Hello… After the encounter with Darlene at the church, Doña Charito continued to vilify Darlene during dinner. But nobody was listening to her. Every one at the table began excusing himself/herself one after the other. Doña Charito was the only one left at the dinner table.   May boyfriend na po ako. When Marilyn and Jerome officially became a ‘couple,’ Marilyn couldn’t hide her elation from her parents and especially from her grandmother Doña Charito. Charito inquired with Marilyn why she seemed to be blooming lately. Marilyn told her the truth. Doña Charito wished she had not asked.   Dona Charito invites Jerome for dinner.   Marilyn and her boyfriend Jerome were both surprised when Doña Charito invited Jerome for dinner. During the dinner, Doña Charito attempted to undermine Jerome’s achievements but since his business is doing great, she ran out of things to throw at Jerome.   What's your favorite Doña Charito moment?
