Assunta de Rossi admits she has no money of her own

Assunta de Rossi admitted on national television that she has no money of her own. In a live interview with Startalk last Saturday, March 10, the actress said she is broke now because she hasn't been earning between March and August of 2004. Assunta said this was the period she was frozen by her former mother studio, ABS-CBN, and was not given any work. Although she started earning on September 2006, it was only up to November. In two years, Assunta said that she lost 16 million pesos in gross as a result of a debt from ABS-CBN. Assunta transferred to ABS-CBN from GMA-7 in 2003. Assunta is married to former Negros Occidental Representative Jules Ledesma, who is considered as a very rich man having several businesses and properties, including an hacienda in his home province. Is Jules depriving Assunta of cash? "Binibigyan naman ako ni Jules," clarified Assunta. "Pero ayoko, e. Minsan magtatanong siya, ‘Do you have cash?' ‘Oo, konti,' sinasagot ko. Pero ang totoo niyan, wala." Then why is she declining her husband's money, being married and all? "Financially independent naman ako, wala namang issue sa amin ang pera because I own half of his assets. Pero ayoko talaga, wala akong pakialam sa kanya [Jules' money]," said Assunta, who also stressed that she and Jules have no prenuptial agreement. Assunta started her career as a young star in German "Kuya Germs" Moreno's That's Entertainment. She was part of GMA-7's gag show Bubble Gang, when she decided to join the boldwagon. She then starred in several sexy flicks, including Joel Lamangan's Hubog, which earned her best actress trophies from several award-giving bodies. When she was only 19 years old, Assunta married Jules—who was already 41 years old that time—in a civil rites held on December 14, 2002 at the Executive House of Ledesma Group of Companies in San Carlos, Negros Occidental. The union of the couple was without controversies, as Assunta's family, particularly her mother and sister Alessandra de Rossi, was very open of their dislike of Jules. On March 14, 2004, Assunta and Jules had their church wedding at the Sanctuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City, with the whole family of Assunta in attendance as a sign of their acceptance of Jules.
