GMA honors Kapuso personalities with Walk of Fame

Pedestrians who pass by the vicinity of the GMA Network Center in Timog, Quezon City can get a feel of Hollywood when they stroll along the Kapuso Walk of Fame.

Unveiled last March 23, the project is meant to honor and celebrate Kapuso personalities who have made their mark on show business.

“Tama lang na parangalan 'yung mga artista natin, on film, television and radio na nagbigay na ng mga magagandang kontribusyon sa industriya,” says GMA Senior VP for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable.

She hopes that Kapuso fans and passersby can see the Walk of Fame and find the names of their favorite stars.

“Maganda sana kung itong mga pedestians natin and even other people coming from different areas, makita nila yung Walk of Fame around GMA. Para kang nasa Hollywood 'di ba?” she adds.

She also lauds the project’s mastermind, Kuya Germs, for the idea. The Master Showman, in turn, thanks the GMA Network executives who helped concretized this dream of his.

“Well, una sa lahat, syempre thank God, and of course ang ating chairman, Atty. Gozon, Mr. Duavit, ang ating president, si Mr. Yalong, at lahat ng mga executives. Salamat sa lahat ng mga nag-cooperate para maganap ang isa na naman sa pangarap ni Kuya Germs,” says the showbiz icon

The celebrity list includes veterans like Gloria Romero, now government officials Herbert Bautista and Isko Moreno, news personalities like Jessica Soho and Arnold Clavio, and Kapuso sweethearts like Bea Binene, Bella Padilla and Glaiza De Castro, among others.

To date, there are 196 Kapuso stars, both from Entertainment and News and Public Affairs, who have their names on the Walk of Fame. More stars will be added within the next couple of days. -- Meryl Ligunas/GMANetwork.com
