(Updated 6:52 p.m.) The Department of Justice (DOJ) has junked the rape complaint filed by model Deniece Cornejo against TV host-actor Vhong Navarro for lack of probable cause.

In a 42-page resolution released Thursday, the DOJ prosecution panel said it was inconceivable that nobody from the adjacent units heard Cornejo screaming and running while Navarro was allegedly trying to rape her inside her condominium unit in Forbeswood Heights.

It also noted that Cornejo didn't suffer any scratches despite her claims that she fought with Navarro, and that she also refused to undergo medical evaluation after the alleged rape incident.

Cornejo's behavior after the incident, particularly her dinner with businessman Cedric Lee and his friends, was also questioned by the DOJ panel.

Unfair decision

Cornejo, for her part, cried foul at the DOJ decision and insisted that she was raped by Navarro.

"Ako na na-rape, ako na naperwisyo, ako na nagpalampas, tapos ako pa ang kakasuhan. Napaka-unfair naman 'yan sa part ko, at sa part ng pamilya ko," she said in a phone patch interview aired on "24 Oras."

She also accused the DOJ of siding with Navarro.

"Halatang-halatang may pinapanigan. Dinudurog 'yung pagkatao namin. At saka 'yung paninindigan namin, masyado ano po 'yun, ayun talaga, nakakadismaya, nakakalungkot, nakakanginig, at nakakagalit," Cornejo said.

The DOJ has filed serious illegal detention and grave coercion charges against Lee, Cornejo and five others in connection with the January 22 mauling of Navarro inside Cornejo's condominium unit.

Lee's group claimed they mauled Navarro after they caught him trying to rape Cornejo—an accusation Navarro denied.

Lee's lawyer, Howard Calleja, refused to comment on the charges as they have yet to receive a copy of the DOJ resolution, according to the “Balita Pilipinas Ngayon” report.
