‘My Love from the Star’ registers top ratings

GMA Network’s alien heartthrob has indeed landed!

The charm of Matteo Do, played by Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun in the Koreanovela "My Love from the Star," swept viewer-rich Urban Luzon and Mega Manila during the show’s premiere last Monday, April 21, and trended worldwide on social networking site Twitter.

Urban Luzon and Mega Manila account for 77 and 60 percent, respectively, of the total urban TV household population in the entire country.

According to data from the industry’s leading ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, "My Love from the Star" hit an Urban Luzon TV rating of 15.2 percent and Mega Manila TV rating of 16.6 percent compared to its rival program "Mirabella," which only registered 13.5 percent and 12.4 percent in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, respectively.

The newest Koreanovela series proves to be a big hit in the country because of its strong viewership even in its succeeding episodes.

It continued to emerge ahead of ABS-CBN competitor "Mirabella" in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila last Tuesday (April 22) and Wednesday (April 23). On its first three episodes, "My Love from the Star" won in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila with an average TV rating of 16.3 percent and 17.6 percent, respectively, against "Mirabella’s" 14 percent and 13.5 percent.

In Mega Manila, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement gathers data based on a sample size of 1,190 homes as compared to Kantar Media's 770 homes. Meanwhile, Nielsen has a nationwide urban sample size of 2,000 homes, which is statistically higher than Kantar's sample size of 1,370.

Kapuso viewers warmly welcomed "My Love from the Star’s" unique story and engaging characters as its pilot episode even became a much-talked about topic in the popular social networking site, Twitter.

The Koreanovela trended worldwide with the hashtag MatteoDo, while the hashtags MLFTSTheInvasion and Steffi, the human superstar portrayed by Jeon Ji Hyun, trended nationwide.
