Andrea Torres celebrates birthday with special children

Kapuso leading lady, Andrea Torres spent an afternoon of fun and games with special children from New Hope SPED Center in Quezon City on Tuesday, May 13.

The birthday program was hosted by comedienne and Kambal Sirena star, Tess Bomb. The event started with a special message from Andrea to the children, followed by some opening remarks by a representative from New Hope SPED Center.

Andrea was deeply touched by the personalized birthday card that the kids made for her. She was also given a frame for the card.

The first game involved having eight volunteers to greet Andrea “Happy Birthday”. The one who was able to hold his or her breath while saying this was declared the winner. Each participant was given a prize.

The highlight of the event was when three kids sang “Happy Birthday” for Andrea. The Kapuso actress was moved to tears by their gesture. Then, everybody joined Andrea in the middle of the hall. Everybody sang for her as she was blowing her birthday candles.

After the program, Andrea joined the children for a scrumptious lunch. She also distributed gifts to all the children there.

GMANetwork.com caught up with Andrea after the party.

The Kapuso beauty, who celebrated her 24th birthday last May 4 decided to have a belated birthday celebration with special children because she sees her younger brother in them.

She said,“Ito ‘yung pinaka malapit sa puso ko bilang ‘yung kapatid ko, special child rin siya. Gusto ko lang na bigyan naman sila ng oras. Gusto ko lang makatulong or maka-start ng charity with them.”

Andrea’s brother, Kenneth is now 18 years old and the mestiza actress shared that they are extremely close.

She said, “Lima po kasi kaming magkakapatid at kami ‘yung pinaka close kasi kami po ‘yung magkasunod.”

“Kapag mayroon akong problema, kinakausap ko siya. Kapag may wish ako, sinasabi ko sa kanya. For some reason, natutupad lagi. Kapag birthday niya, laging may big thing na nangyayari sa akin,” she added.

When asked what her birthday wish was, Andrea answered, “Ang dami ko pa pong gustong ma-achieve sa career ko at saka sa life ko. Guidance lang din sa mga desisyon na gagawin ko. Hihingi ako ng help kay Lord para maging maganda ‘yung path ko.”
