Kris asks for support for PNoy, and adds: ‘Please pray he stays alive’

President Benigno Aquino III's youngest sister, actress Kris Aquino, has a simple appeal for the public: to pray that his brother stays alive.

After a Holy Mass to commemorate the fifth death anniversary of their mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, Kris said people who support the President "should not be complacent."

 

"He [Noynoy] can't do it on his own. We need to stand by him and give him strength. Please pray with us also that he stays alive," Kris told guests after the Holy Mass held Friday at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.

 

"Gusto namin talaga good health, wisdom, strength, courage and he has the fortitude to last," she added.

 

At the same time, Kris said the President's supporters "should be there" for her brother not just in times of criticisms, but in times when "he is doing good."

 

"Sana iyong mga naniniwala sa kanya, iparamdam sa kanya araw-araw na hindi siya nag-iisa," the President's sister said.

 

She also shared that she tends to reply to those who praise her brother on social media, and block those who are negative towards the President.

 

"I guess I can tell that to Noy now that the great majority of our people still really believe in him. They know what the good job he is doing. Ang problema lang iyong mga bilib tumatahimik," she said.

 

During his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Aquino shared during a rare reflective moment that the spectre of getting killed during his incumbency has crossed his mind.

 

Aquino said if anything happened to him, he would have been satisfied with what he had accomplished in his more than four years as the country's top elected official.

 

After the SONA, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that President Aquino is "all right" and is not sick. Palace officials have also repeatedly dismissed rumors of a coup plot against the Aquino administration. — RSJ, GMA News
