Vhong Navarro camp expresses dismay over Cedric Lee's 'It's showtime!' statement

The camp of Vhong Navarro expressed dismay over Cedric Lee's message to the television host on Tuesday, after the businessman was able to secure temporary freedom after posting bail for the serious illegal detention charges filed against him.

 

When asked by media for a message for Vhong, Cedric simply replied, "It's showtime!" a clear reference to the title of Vhong's daily noontime show.

 

 

Ang mahirap na tanggapin talaga, ang pinapamukha, ang pinagsasabi... Nakikinig ako 'yung sinabi ni Cedric na pangungutya na now 'It's showtime,'" said Vhong's lawyer Atty. Alma Mallonga in a report of "News To Go."

"Anong mararamdaman mo? Parang pinapalabas na after all, ikaw ang nabugbog, ikaw ang nadetine, ikaw ang itinali, ikaw ang na-humiliate, kung ano-anong ginawa sa'yo, 'yun pala ikaw ang may kasalanan?” 

 

But Cedric's lawyer Atty. Howard Calleja denied that there was any subtext to the statement.

 

"Nandu'n naman ako nu'ng nangyari 'yun. Kumbaga masaya lang ang tao (na) nakakuha siya ng kanyang liberty at freedom at napagbigyan ang aming bail. There's nothing fearful or threatening," said the lawyer.

 

Along with Zimmer Raz and Deniece Cornejo, Cedric is facing charges in connection to the mauling of Vhong last January. On Monday, the Taguig Regional Trial Court allowed them to post bail of P500,000 each, allowing Cedric and Zimmer to secure temporary release on Tuesday.

 

Vhong's camp has expressed disappointment over the development, as have the prosecutors handling the case, who have asked judge Paz Esperanza-Cortes of the Regional Trial Court Branch 271 to inhibit herself from the case. — Bianca Rose Dabu/JST, GMA News
