LOOK: Truck damaged by ‘sinkhole’ on Cagayan highway

A truck was damaged after it ran into a sinkhole that formed in the middle of a national highway in Cagayan.

No one was hurt in the vehicular accident, but it slowed down traffic in the area.

Pictures from the site showed the truck's axle still caught in the sinkhole.

The sinkhole developed on the national highway at Barangay Maddarulug in Enrile town, GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported Friday.

Officials from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and Department of Public Works and Highways went to the site to check the sinkhole.

Police are now securing the portion of the highway to make sure motorists are safe.

The police also said it is possible the sinkhole formed due to the ground getting soft after weeks of heavy rain. -Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
