Heart, Gretchen, other celebs attend Duterte’s first SONA
In keeping with the wishes of President Rodrigo Duterte, the celebrities who attended the State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday eschewed glamorous gowns in favor of simpler attire.
Dina Bonnevie, who is married to Ilocos Sur Rep. Deogracias Savellano, arrived in a blue dress and a coat of abel Iloko, a handwoven cloth made from cotton and other fibers.
Gretchen Barretto was simple but elegant in an off-white blouse she paired with a long black skirt.

Best remembered for wearing a white dress with with detachable cage terno sleeves during the 2014 SONA, Heart Evangelista still turned heads at the event with her off-the-rack white coat and pants.
She was accompanied by her husband, Senator Francis Escudero, who sported a white barong Tagalog.

"Yes. [I'm] following the dress code," Evangelista said in a report of GMA News' Nelson Canlas on "24 Oras."
Bayang Barrios, who sang the Philippine national anthem at the start of the program, turned to her Manobo roots with a Joel Acebuche creation that featured red, black and yellow beading.
Also in attendance were actor Philip Salvador and celebrities-turned-politicians like Senators Manny Pacquiao and Vicente Sotto III, Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos, Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.

Organizers stepped away from the red carpet fashion seen in past SONAs as they wanted the public to focus on Duterte's plans for the country.
