Kapuso actor Dingdong Dantes remains interested in politics and public service, saying his new docu-drama series "Case Solved" was a huge step in that direction.

Dingdong was among the prominent showbiz personalities that campaigned for former President Benigno Aquino III in 2010.

Aquino years later appointed him commissioner of the National Youth Commission in 2014.

Asked about his political plans during the press conference of the new show, Dingdong said, "Hindi siya case closed."

Dingdong adverted to "Case Solved" as a venue to further his plans for a higher level of public service.

"Para sakin, itong programa na 'Case Solved,' isang malaking hakbang yan sa dun sa pagpasok sa larangan na mas seryoso and mas hard core na line na public service because of the nature of the show," Dingdong said.

The Kapuso prime time king will host "Case Solved," which will narrate stories of landmark crime cases in the country.

It aims to teach viewers the ins-and-outs of the Philippine justice system.

Dingdong said that he considers his role on "Case Solved" as a form of public service because it teaches viewers how to protect their loved ones, and what to do when they find themselves victims of a crime.

By accepting the role, he said he may be ready for more serious responsibilities.

"Siguro the fact na tinanggap ko to, ibig sabihin mas open na kong gumawa ng ganitong mga bagay," Dingdong said.

For now, Dingdong said that he would focus on doing his job as an actor well.

He added that he does not need to be in politics to help other people.

"Kung saan yan mapupunta later on, hindi ko alam. Basta nandiyan ang dedication ko in this line of service," Dingdong said.

"Siguro pagbutihan ko muna sa trabaho na binigay sa akin ngayon," he added. —NB, GMA News
