4 GMA shows that will get you hooked

Because of their diverse themes, GMA Network’s shows have earned a strong following both on-air and online. Varying plotlines—from a Filipino mythical creature’s journey to protect the human race to four handsome guys falling head over heels for the same girl—have captured the interest of most Filipino viewers.

But which among the network’s shows made most viewers’ eyes glued to the screen? We’ve rounded up GMA’s top series that will make anyone binge-watch:

Destined To Be Yours

Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza’s first-ever teleserye easily gained viewers because of the on-screen couple’s electrifying chemistry, but it was ultimately the show’s story that kept them hooked.

‘Destined To Be Yours’ follows the story of Sinag Obispo (Maine Mendoza), who is fighting to protect her hometown’s tradition and culture by keeping property developers at bay, until architecture graduate Benjie Rosales (Alden Richards) comes along.

Memorable scenes:

The show’s pilot episode proved to be unforgettable for most viewers, especially when Benjie and Sinag first laid eyes on each other. It was reminiscent of the feeling of falling in love for the first time.

Another scene that captured the hearts of many is Sinag and Benjie sharing a kiss when they were called on stage in a comedy bar!

Meant To Be

GMA’s romantic comedy series tells the story of Billie (Barbie Forteza) and her quest for true love, dream career, and a reunited family. But when Billie lost her job, she ends up working for Andoy (Jak Roberto), Ethan (Ivan Dorschner), Yuan (Ken Chan), and Jai (Addy Raj). The situation, however, leads to Billie’s bosses trying to win her heart.

Memorable scenes:

‘Meant To Be’ is full of interesting kilig moments—and the first time Billie meets the four boys in a dangerously peculiar way is no exception.

And who can forget about that time when Barbie, who plays Billie, first appeared on TV in a bikini? Her four suitors taking off their shirts only put the cherry on top of the ultimate daydream sequence.

Ika-6 Na Utos

Love is literally in the air for widower airline captain Rome (Gabby Concepcion) and single but happy souvenir vendor Emma (Sunshine Dizon). Their love flew and soon blossomed into an almost perfect marriage until Georgia (Ryza Cenon) challenged their relationship.

Memorable scenes:

Georgia and Emma’s confrontation on the escalator will always keep viewers over the edge.

Who knew a baby stroller could cause a commotion between two pregnant women? Emma and Georgia fighting over a carrier ended up in an unlikely day at the baby store. Talk about shopping gone wrong!

Another unforgettable scene involved Georgia’s supposed wedding to Rome—which was stopped by Rome’s faithful helper, Manang Loleng, after she found out about Georgia’s true intentions.

Mulawin

Before ‘Mulawin VS Ravena,’ which is currently airing on TV, there was ‘Mulawin.’ The hit GMA fantaserye took flight in 2004, revolving around a winged human named Aguiluz (Richard Gutierrez), who will do whatever it takes to save the mortal world from the evildoings of another group of bird people known as Ravenas. ‘Mulawin,’ as true fans of the show know, serves as the origin story of ‘Mulawin VS Ravena.’

Memorable scenes:

Being the first Mulawin born among humans, Alwina’s birth—hatching from an egg, that is—will always leave the human world (as well as the viewers) amazed. Later in the story, she is revealed to be the ‘Sugo’ or ’Chosen One’ who will unite the Mulawins and humans.

Gabriel getting back his ugat-pak served as a turning point in the story, as it revealed his true identity. When he was just a child, Gabriel’s mother pulled it off while he was sleeping. The loss made him lame and weak. But later on, Ravenum, Gabriel’s real father, implanted his ugat-pak back, which paved the way for him to become a Ravena prince.
