Pinoy music icons sing GMA News & Public Affairs theme

A folk icon, a music diva, an ethnic singer-songwriter, a throaty-voiced pop artist and an 80s rocker recently spent the day together recording the theme song for GMA Public Affairs’ 20th anniversary. The song, entitled “Dalawang Dekada," is a stirring tribute to all the people – on and off camera – who have been part of GMA Public Affairs programming over the past twenty years. It was composed and arranged by Jimmy Antiporda, who has long been part of Public Affairs having composed the themes for 24 Oras, Wish Ko Lang, Unang Hirit and Extra Challenge. The lyrics of "Dalawang Dekada" were written by GMA assistant program manager Christina Pascual. Freddie Aguilar, Kuh Ledesma, Joey Ayala, Cookie Chua and Jett Pangan (of The Dawn) lent their distinct voices to the song. Ka Freddie says he rarely makes TV appearances these days, picking only projects that are meaningful to him. He says he wanted to be part of the commemorative song because, “Maganda yung kanta, at magagaling yung mga kasama ko rito." Plus he says he is a fan of GMA News and Public Affairs, whose programs he describes as truthful and always balanced. Kuh Ledesma for her part, says “It is an honor to be part of a celebration for such a worthy body of work, and to be part of a song that builds up and inspires people." The music video for the song "Dalawang Dekada" will be seen for the first time on October 28, Sunday night at 10:30 p.m., when GMA Public Affairs airs its 20th Anniversary Special. The show, hosted by Jessica Soho and Arnold Clavio, will highlight the twenty biggest, most moving and most historic stories produced by GMA Public Affairs over the past twenty years.

PINOY MUSIC GREATS INAWIT ANG “DALAWANG DEKADA" Limang Pinoy music greats ang nagsama-sama upang awitin ang theme song ng GMA Public Affairs – sina Ka Freddie Aguilar, Kuh Ledesma, Joey Ayala, Cookie Chua at Jett Pangan ng The Dawn. Ang kanta, na pinamagatang “Dalawang Dekada", ay nagbibigay pugay sa lahat ng taong naging bahagi ng GMA Public Affairs nitong nakaraang dalawampung taon. Ang may katha nito ay ang kilalang composer na si Jimmy Antiporda, na siya ring may gawa ng maraming theme song ng GMA News and Public Affairs – kasama na ang 24 Oras, Wish Ko Lang at Unang Hirit. Ang mga lyriko naman ay isinulat ni Christina Pascual, assistant program manager ng GMA. Ayon na kay Ka Freddie tinanggap niya ang project dahill ito’y makahulugan para sa kanya, “Maganda yung kanta at magagaling ang mga kasama ko rito." Dagdag pa niya, pinapanood niya ang mga palabas ng GMA news and public affairs dahil ang mga ito’y balanse at makatotohanan. Si Ms. Kuh Ledesma, sinabing "Isang karangalang maging bahagi ng selebrasyong ito, at ng isang kanta na nagbibigay inspirasyon sa tao." Ang theme song na “Dalawang Dekada" ay maririnig ng buo sa simula ng GMA Public Affairs 20th Anniversary Special sa ika-28 ng Oktubre, Linggo 10:30 ng gabi. Ipalalabas din sa special ang dalawampung pinakamalaki, pinakamatapang at pinakamakasaysayang storya ng GMA Public Affairs nitong nakaraang dalawampung taon. Sina Jessica Soho at Arnold Clavio ang mangunguna sa palabas na ito.
