Ruby Rodriguez talks about the Eat Bulaga family

Although it never crossed Ruby’s mind to be part of the entertainment industry, she found herself in showbiz in 1989 as one of the cast of the fantasy-themed show, Ok ka Fairy Ko! with Vic Sotto and Aiza Suegerra. As a pre-school teacher and law student back then, she did not engage herself to the business full-time. It was in 1990 when she became a pinch hitter for Eat Bulaga, when the entertainment bug bit her and she knew she wanted to stay in the industry. “Bagets na bagets pa (ako noon), fresh out of college" she says. Happiness and contentment emanate from Ruby’s eyes as she looks at how things are going for her and the show right now. “The best times of my life are with Eat Bulaga," she shares. “(And) I’d like to thank the fans who support Eat Bulaga and me per se" she adds. Family Secrets Having been with the Eat Bulaga family for a long time, Ruby feels their program still keeps on going because they “keep each other’s secrets (and) support each other in time of need, which you do not see on-screen". “I think that’s what (a) family is for: you help each other (and) lahat kami we protect each other" she explains, likening their group to an ideal household. “Parang sa magkakapatid, kami-kami rin nagbabangayan. Pero kapag may umaway nang iba, kampi-kampi kayo" she says. Their on-air camaraderie, apparently, does not stop when the cameras stop rolling. Ruby discloses that in between breaks, the gang usually plays roles; and yes, even the revered Tito, Vic and Joey join the fun. Ruby ends the hearty conversation with a teasing question. “Can you imagine, kapag wala sa TV?" She then gives the answer herself, “siyempre, usually kung ano iyong wala sa ere (ang) mas nakakatawa! No holds barred!" - iGMA.tv
