The usually gregarious Julia Clarete turned serious as iGMA picked on the nitty-gritty of her career as an artist. And we learned that while she may not be a Hollywood star, Julia is still very happy where she is right now. Julia Clarete admits that her career is pretty quiet right now, but the singer-host doesn’t mind that she’s currently not creating noise. In fact, she’s grateful that she gets to spend time with Sebastian, her son. “For now, I’m really concentrating on Eat Bulaga," Julia explains, saying that this stems from the gratitude she feels for her co-hosts and staff of the noontime show who have been so kind to her. “And I just truly, truly love the show. I love working in it, I love working with the people in it." But fans of Julia’s acting skills must not fret. The host promises that those who do miss her acting can still see her in the independent films she does from time to time. “Pero siguro, it would have to take the backseat muna." Still, for those who really want to see her, the singer-host points out that her acting skills are still being put to test in the noontime show. As for her singing, Julia has an album that’s out in the market called Bumalik Ka Lang. The album mixes different genres of music to make it appeal to a wider range of listeners, and it also features a more learned and more mature Julia. “The biggest thing I’ve ever done for my singing career was to stop smoking," Julia shares with a laugh. Her advice to aspiring singers and artists to think hard about taking up vices, especially those who want to break into the rock scene, “You think rock is all about sex, drugs and rock and roll? Think again! It requires a lot of discipline." “If you want to be a singer, you have to be a good one." The singer-host continues that there’s a need for balance in careers like hers. “Huwag niyong abusuhin ‘yung katawan niyo. Siguraduhin niyo na (kung gagawin niyo ang vice niyo), wala kayong trabaho on the same night or the next day. Sa totoo lang, hindi magiging maganda para sa inyo. Hindi naman sinasabing huwag gawin. Ayusin niyo lang." During the time she has spent in the entertainment industry, Julia has seen her fair share of ups and downs. And clearly, she has learned her lessons well. Now, the singer-actress has turned to a quiet life, but the experiences she carries are now in the way she acts, and in the songs she sings. “I would like to invite everyone to grab a copy of my album, ‘yung mga wala pa pong kopya. It’s still out in the market. At naku, marami pang ibang mga kanta ‘to. Hindi lang ito ‘yung mga downbeat, hindi lang ito ‘yung straight rock, hindi lang ito senti-senti. Mayroon pang mga ska na nakatago diyan at hanapin niyo lang sa album at magugulat kayo, maaaliw kayo. Magandang halo ng mga kanta. So grab a copy, hindi kayo magsisisi. Pero sana you can grab the original copy." - iGMA.tv
