Sherilyn Reyes is newest kontrabida

Sherilyn Reyes has been part of this industry for years. We regularly see her as one of the hosts of QTV’s daily talk show Moms. On GMA, after taking some time off from comedy with her previous stint as the street-smart probinsyana Jessica Benoit on the comedy Bahay Mo’ Ba To, she resurfaces back to GMA as the atrocious Loren Moreno on My Only Love. The character will be Sherilyn’s first main kontrabida role in the afternoon slots. She admits that she’s her career so far has been risk free career. “Actually medyo naninibago ako kasi it was also my decision not to do soap operas, same time last year [they] offered a role which I declined kasi parang iba na 'yung priorities ko," she said. Aside from that she was also contented with her shows such as Moms and Bahay Mo Ba’ To? where she practiced her hosting and comic talents. Acting for a soap-opera was never on her agenda simply because it didn’t fit her schedule, but for My Only Love God seems to have decided Sherilyn’s next step in her career, “At first conflict yung schedule ng taping sa Mom then they changed it so sabi ko baka it’s meant for me talaga, no time to back out." Taking the plunge into antagonistic roles was a bit difficult for Sherilyn. She had a lot of inhibitions and fears about accepting the part, “[Baka] mapektuhan 'yung Moms dito kasi I heard na si Gardo [Versoza] daw when he went to a place sa province hindi siya makababa ng car because everyone was so mad at him." But thanks to her supportive husband Sherilyn finally took the risk, “My husband became very, very excited to see me [on] TV, to watch me again kasi for almost 3 years hindi ako gumagawa ng kontrabida roles." Aside from her husband's consent, she also loves the role itself, “The role is very challenging talaga and it’s a blessing kasi 'yung iba dyan, nahihirapan bumalik samantalang ako eto ino-offer na." The challenge awaits One of the challenges the Sherilyn will be facing is the constant “pang-aapi" to the protagonist, “Every time may scene iniisip ko na kung ako ba talaga ito ano ba ang gagawin ko? Yung toughest challenge ko is 'yung makasakit." She stresses that she’s really a happy person in real-life, an extrovert with a kind heart for the people she cares about. Despite the opposite polarity of her character to her real life personality, Sherilyn tries her best to drive away all her hesitation to be able to give justification to this amazing role, “Ang naiisip ko sa role ko si Cherrie Gil, I don’t know ha, pero siya talaga. Basta accidentally siya lang 'yung pumasok sa mind ko na feeling ko Cherrie Gil ako ngayon." Each taping day may be difficult to this fun-loving mom but what keeps her going is the idea to entertain, “Maganda yun, it could open more doors for me in the future pero nandoon pa rin 'yung fear na na ayaw ng tao sa akin." All she can hope for is that the loyal viewers of the show will not see the character she portrays but the actress who plays her, “They have to understand din na it’s a role or its just a character that I portray and later that afternoon kapag nag QTV na sila ako na yon, 'yung totoong ako na." Sherilyn Reyes will finally have the chance to prove her versatility as an entertainer, in due time she will become more than a regular afternoon kontrabida, she might become one our favorite actresses. - iGMA.tv
