‘I shall overcome,’ says Angelica Jones after devastating fire

MANILA, Philippines - Sexy comedienne Angelica Jones said she will recover after an hour-long fire destroyed her apartment units in Mandaluyong. Jones used her earning in her 13 years in show business in investing in the apartment business. In an interview with GMA’s Showbiz Central Sunday, Angelica said despite what happened she is thankful to God that she and the members of her family survived the fire that gutted their apartment unit last week. She said the incident made her closer to God. “After noong masunugan kami nagpunta ako sa Baclaran church, nagpasalamat ako na buhay pa rin kami ng Mama ko." Angelica said she is trying to move on but the memories of the fire were still hounding her even in her sleep. “Andun yung trauma. Tulog ka paggising mo anlaki-laki na ng apoy, yung mga usok. Hindi mo alam (ang nangyayari). So everytime na matutulog ako gusto ko may katabi ako, ayokong patay ang ilaw," she admitted. The comedienne said the fire incident made her realized that everything in this world is temporary. “Ang importante hindi kami nawala ng Mama ko at sister-in-law ko at nagpapasalamat ako sa sister-in-law ko dahil siya ang nagsave ng life ko at Mama ko," she said. She said the only part of their house that was spared was their altar. “Mga santong inipon namin over the years, Sto. Nino, Birhen ng Amorseco, Our Lady of Fatima, kasi nagkokoleksyon ako ng mga santo. Miraculous talaga yung mga santo na yun. Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nagbigay ng mga santo sa akin. Sinave yung life naming," she said. Angelica was positive that she would be able to overcome the recent tragedy in their life because she has not plans of giving up. “Hindi ako sumusuko. Katulad noong after elections maraming trials, kahit maraming trials hindi ako bumibitaw kay Lord. Sinusubukan Niya lang ako. Mas lalo akong napalapit kay Lord," she said of her experience. She added: “Habang nabubuhay ka, habang kasama mo yung mahal mo sa buhay gawin mo na ang gusto mong gawin. Magsaya ka na, hindi mo masasabi (ang mangyayari) bukas," she said. - GMANews.TV
