Freddie Aguilar laid to rest at Manila Islamic Cemetery
Freddie Aguilar was laid to rest at the Manila Islamic Cemetery on Tuesday.
According to Aubrey Carampel's report in "24 Oras" Tuesday, Aguilar's burial was confirmed by the Muntinlupa City Muslim Affairs Office.
The OPM singer and songwriter converted to Islam in 2013. In the Islamic faith, the deceased must be buried within 24 hours of death.
Aguilar's burial was led by Muntinlupa City Muslim Affairs Office Director Brother Johnny Guiling, per the office's Facebook post.
Earlier today, Atty. George Briones, the general counsel of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, confirmed Aguilar's passing to GMA News Online. Aguilar formerly served as the national executive vice president of PFP.
Aguilar's former partner, Josephine Quiepo, also confirmed to "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" that he passed away due to multiple organ failure, as announced by Abunda on Tuesday.
Previously, Aguilar's wife, Jovie Albao, had shared updates online while in the Philippine Heart Center and also thanked those who checked in on her and her husband's condition.
Aguilar is survived by Jovie, and his four children from his previous marriage: Maegan, Jonan, Isabella, and Jeriko.
Considered as one of the pillars and icons of OPM, he is best known for his hit song “Anak” which became an international hit and was translated into multiple languages.
His other songs include “Bulag, Pipi At Bingi,” "Mindanao," "Katarungan," and “Magdalena,” among many others.
