Richard Gomez on doing a film after 7 years: 'Ang gulu-gulo ng mundo ng pulitika ngayon'
Richard Gomez is returning to the big screen after seven years in "Salvageland."
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the actor-turned-politician shared that he said yes to the film after receiving the script amid the flood control mess rocking the Philippine Congress.
"Alam mo Boy nagkataon na ang gulu-gulo ng mundo ng pulitika ngayon and I am in Congress, kagulo sa Congress ngayon. All of this corruption issues, flood control issues," he said.
"Tamang-tama dumating 'yung magandang script and sabi ko I don't want to be there where the mess is. So pinili ko na magtrabaho. Sabi ko, let me stay away from all this mess," he added.
Richard stars with Elijah Canlas in the thriller film directed by Lino Cayetano. They play a father and son who are both serving as police officers battling a crime syndicate in a fictional town outside Metro Manila.
Other cast members include Mon Confiado, Cindy Miranda, McCoy De Leon, and Angela Morena.
The actor said he is blessed to have received a good script and the opportunity to work on a good film.
"I love my work as a congressman because I'm able to help my district. I'm able to help the people. But again masuwerte ako because in the midst of all this turmoil nabigyan ako ng chance na gumawa ng isang Salvageland at ginawa ko so ito na 'yun," he said.
"Habang nagkakagulo sila, meron tayong nagawang maganda," he added.
Richard is the representative of the fourth district of Leyte. He previously served as the mayor of Ormoc City. —MGP, GMA Integrated News
